For visitors to this page...
We had the honor and privilege of getting to know these musicians online, and sometimes in person, on the Bass Player Magazine forum called the Low Down Lowdown. There used to be a way to search for their posts, but changes were made to the forum and the old posts are no longer available, but if they were and you could read their posts... you would have learned who they were to us, and why we enjoyed their cyber-friendships.
There were also many poignant and sincere remembrances there, posted by members of the forum.

| I
have been deeply touched by the response on the forums that Rob frequented.
I am especially moved by your Memorial Site for Bass Players. I know my
husband is pleased with what you have done. I am pleased to know that
his life will be remembered by the folks that he chose to associate himself
with and that he felt a connection to, musicians, like himself.
My husband lived a fine life. He is more partner, husband and friend than I could have asked for. He is an exemplary father that sowed love, kindness and patience into the lives of his two daughters that will without doubt yield a fruitful harvest in their lives as they move forward. He loves Christ. Rob shared and lived his faith thoroughly. He is quite a man as evidenced by the fine company that he kept and by a life well lived. Thank you. Grace
& Peace, |

I grew up with Robert here in Detroit (10 houses away). He was a brother, a very mellow, and great bass player. We were bandmates "Back In Da Day", and have always bounced ideas off each other even when we were separated by the miles. I wanted to take this time and thank you and everyone in the forum for your kind words at this time. Rest assured, he is in The Presence where all is well. I have enclosed a picture, if you would like to share. (Note to Clay: Thank you so much for the photo.) He was/is my best friend. I will miss him forever. As I type, the radio is playing "Roxanne", the first song we (Rob, myself and our drummer Walter Mathis) played at our very first rehearsal... and all I can do is smile and be thankful and remember my best friend. Robert, my cousin, cuz, as he called me and Bobby of him. I was 19 and he was 7. I was his big sister in those day and he took care of his mother and me when his father worked at night. I thank you for this web site. I will not receive any more mail from Bobby but I can always come to his site. God gave Bobby such a wonderful family, Carla and the girls. I know they will be blessed throughout their lives. Sandra Stewart |

I am John Dottle's son, Edward "Ted" Dottle. Thank you all for posting about my dad and your thoughts and prayers to my family. He was 57 when he died and he started dating my mom about May, 1966. They were married in January 1968. He has 2 children, me (36) and my sister Amy (32). He has 3 grandchildren (all mine), Raquel age 9, Christine and Natalie age 7 on (2/6/2005 and yes they are identical twins). My kids call him Grampy Gorilla. He and I bought his Dean Edge together. I know he loved it and loved playing. He got a real nice amp from my mom for Christmas or his birthday (12/26). I know he loved playing bass and looked very forward to the Masters class. My mom gave me the bass and the equipment to go with it. I have started using his books to learn to play. The bass has always been my favorite. I would rather play it then a lead or rhythm guitar any day. It makes it more special that I am using his. I know he was very happy in his life and enjoyed living it to the fullest. I know enjoyed the forum too and was trying to setup a band with coworkers, friends, and family. I think he was getting very close to having their first practice. Thank
you all again, |

My name is Amy and John "44 hurts" Dottle was my dad. I want to thank you for the thoughts you all gave to us during this terrible time. I want to give you some of what I know of my dad... The past 5 years of my dads life were his happiest in my opinion he loved being in CA with the family and especially the "jam sessions" at the gatherings. I was privileged enough to be there for a few of the sessions and it was the coolest thing to see and hear. He loved playing the bass so much that even when I was out visiting from TX he still went to his lesson. I know he will be missed by all of us whom he touched sometime in his life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful things everyone has said. Thank
you again, |

Dave Brown was more than a teacher, he was your friend, mentor, everything. I remember how the school was the day he died... Everyone was sad. Everyone knew we had a big loss. He was the kind of guy who cared for everyone. I remember his stories. They took much of class and we loved them. But we also loved the passion he had for music. Oh and the faces he would make while playing bass... CLASSIC! Good thing he conducted most the time as I don't think we would be able to play while seeing him. He was such a family man. The only way to sum things up was a quote from him, this was after someone said how he lit up a room, "I just let Jesus shine out of every hole I have." While that sentence brought some humorous questions it was very true. He treated me like one of his kids, I had a rougher time then most and he took me under his wings. We miss you Mr. Brown, we love you, and we play for you. Aly |

I was a long-time member of the Low Down LowDown forum, and throughout that time only had a chance to meet a few of our members in person. I am so grateful to say that I had the chance to meet and spend time with Adrian, in Las Vegas. My husband and I were on vacation and we coordinated with Adrian for some dinner and conversation. He was a beautiful person and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. I can only assume he is making joyous music in rock and roll heaven. Rock on Bassaddik. Connie |
